Stringhole

Paper manuscripts may leave a stringhole space in the middle, usually as a decorative element.

Bengali. Varied stringhole decorations throughout the manuscript. Here the letter extenders have been transformed into a stringhole decoration. Hand of Rādhākānta Tārkavāgīśa.
